Star office or Offcie XP Pro

OpenOffice 🙂

I'd go with MS Office if you can get it for a decent price. A lot more people use and you usually won't run into file compatibility issues.
 
If cost isn't a concern, i'd pick MS Office. But the OpenOffice is still free. For the average home user there isn't the big differnce.
 
i believe OpenOffice can read and write Office xp formats ...

and its free

i personally use Office XP, since I got a good deal on it

It can, but you can have some problems with Excel files (I've had).
 
Well, duh 🙂

If the price is not important, buy XP by all means. It has a better user interface and has more features. If the price is important, then it's a different story.
 
Thanks all for the input. Just picked up Office XP Pro at a local computer show today. The price was right 🙂
