Thanks for the input Crank, you have some good points there. I'm pretty sure that Staples does everything in the computer too.

I guess you tried the $99 Clie deal too! I think my problem then was getting upset and being rude about the whole thing. I was still right, but it just pissed the manager off! This time, I just handed the cashier the receipts and asked to pricematch and no problem. After the manager was gone, I gave her the coupon too! Done deal!!!

I went ahead and got one today for around $40 after rebate, I couldn't get them to price match but I had a store credit I had been sitting on, anyway I got a lite-on drive. I'm a bit apprehensive. When I open the drive the tray opens quickly the first 1/4th of the way and it's slower the rest of the way. Normal?

No I do not have a scanner but i can tell you anything you want to know from the recept.
The Price match is 100% Price Guarantee and the Code thay gave was Form Of Proof: 03
The Staples Cupon Number was 19878.
That Is what is on the Recept.
And All I showed was the copy of the SAMS Recept from the First post that had it. (printed Copy)

I couldnt' get this deal to work The staples in allentown Pa and the one in whitehall by where i live are annoying. No matter what deal i take there both managers always give me some reason why they can't pricematch it. tried this, the clie deal and another one on some monitor. None worked :/. But i can help some of you...I have a printed out copy of the rebate i scanned for all of you. It's hosted off my personal website server so like dont go posting the link to other forums unless you mirror it and post your mirror. I can't handle the bandwidth i only have a 200k per sec conenction sending.

I called the motly clueless customer service at Staples rebate center and she said the the $30 promotion was put on hold, it sounds like the promotion is still valid we are all getting our $30, but currently the promotion is not available on the site. I would wait a few days as it sounds like it may appear again sometime soon. There is no rush as the reabte is valid from 1/3 - 1/12 and needs to be postmarked by 2/12.

I asked about the "copy" of the rebate form that I posted on my site. It she said this would be ok, but I would still call customer service before you decide to use the rebate from posted there are she was prety much out of it and made me repeat myself several times.

Also I have mirrored Nova13's scan on my site for you all, so you can grab that from me if you wish. Receipt and rebates

I was gonna ask the same thing. Also, when the tray closes, it makes a clunk sound; louder than my dvd drive. This is probably normal.

Why do you have to edit the receipt? Can you post the unaltered receipt. I payed $110 out the door with this drive and I want some of my money back.

<< I went in last Saturday to buy the burner and a Logitech Cordless keyboard for my fiancee's laptop.
Anyway, they said they wouldn't PM Sam's club because it's not open to the public. I was very polite and showed them a scan of a receipt from a Staples that did do the PM, still no dice. I took the burner anyway and was going to try to cook up some way I could PM with Amex Blue.
Blue said no go on PM'ing a store receipt - must be an ad, soooooo, I went back to Staples today after seeing the Victorville, CA receipt. Either there was a new manager there, or he just decided to give in, because they PM'd the drive, so I got out of the store with the drive for $61.61 (with my CA tax).
I didn't try to use a coupon because I'd used a $20 off $40 the previous Saturday, and the lovely customer service lady didn't realize she should've taken it off my receipt - Woot! (don't even know what that means, but I see it here all the time )

Anyway, I'll send a scan of my receipt to <a href="mailto:noahch@mail.com">noahch@mail.com</A> because he said he'd host them. I also made a scan of the rebate form I'd printed - don't know if it'll turn out o.k., but I'll send it too.

The lesson - if at first you don't succeed, go back and hope you get a different manager!

Hey all,I registered so I could post my story with this...
My wife and I went to Staples around 7pm on 1/9/02.Came in armed with a copy of the Sams Club receipt,one of the Staples PM receipts,and a print-out of their return policy.I left my wife do the talking since she seems to be the better one at argueing
Anyways,she showed the broad at the counter the Sams Club receipt.The girl at the counter tried to give us some lip about not PMing a wholesaler,but quickly found out she was wrongThe sales clerk calls Northwood,Ill, to verify it.Well apparently whatever sale they had on the drive is over and the price was $79/$89(don't remember which she said).
Nevertheless,I figured with 30 bucks knocked off $50 wouldn't be that bad so I tell my wife to go ahead with it.Well the nasty-ass looking manager steps in and start going on about how it wasn't rational to PM something from Ill(Im in SC BTW).She made the sales clerk call Sams in Augusta,Ga(about 45 minutes away)So while the sales clerk is on hold my wife whips out the good 'ol print-out of the Staples PM policy and points out the line "Anywhere and Any store".
The manager at this time tells the sales clerk to go ahead and give it to me at receipt price.Well instead of ringing it up at the new $79 price she goes with the $58 price on the receipt.So in the long run I got the burner for $54.70.
Ultimatly,54.70-$30 MIR=$24.70.Not too shabby.Too bad I didn't have one of those $10 off coupons to make the deal even more cherry
Remember,you don't have to get ugly with them,just be persistent and point out the facts.

After getting the TDK deal from BB, Staples is pretty far from me, so I went to OD and they had one Pac. Dig. 24X in the lockup case. It had the Smartburn sticker so I first asked the store manager if they PM'd other stores (not giving any details to him, and before I had the drive in my hand), got the drive, told (older black lady) cashier that the mgr told me they would PM, she said she had to ask the manager personally because the PM discount was over $100 , waited for him to call her phone for awhile, no call, she finally went and showed him the printed staples receipt (from another state!), came back and did the PM. Me - 'You accept competitors coupons dont you', her - 'I dont know', called mgr 'he also has a coupon' ($10 off $40). No dice on coupon. So $56.91 + tax, no rebates, no coupons. Not as good as others, but still good.

I still wonder how some of you manage to get the PM and still manage to also use the $10 off coupon after that. I thought Staples new policy didn't allow that. Maybe just depends on the cashier. Plus I thought the $10 off $30 expired the 7th.
