DELIVERED TODAY 05/09/06!
Western Digital WD Caviar SE 7200RPM
Model # WD3000JBRTL
300 GB 8MB 100MB/s
1 Year Standard Warranty

I bought 2 yesterday.

Here's the ORIGINAL link:
Staples WD 300GB SATA for $90
Staples has corrected the link to reflect EIDE in description... this is now correct!

$.30/GB IDE is fine for my purposes... deal has just dropped a few degrees.

I didn't bother trying to switch for SATA drives in store...

Yeah something seems fishy here, we'll know 100% if it's not the SATA when these drives start showing up tomorrow. :disgust:

I called Staples and they said that you will be shipped as per item description, not per model number. I ordered one, (free next day shipping) but could care less if I have to take it back.

Just got the order e-mail:
WD 300GB INT EIDE HARD DRIVE
Item No.: 643407 Price: $159.99/each
Expected Delivery: 05/09/2006 by Staples Courier

Looks like the person I talked to is wrong.

Serial ATA is either 150mbps or 300mbps

EIDE/IDE/ or ATA is 100mbps or 133mbps

JB is an IDE drive

I noticed the discrepancy between model # and description, as well... after I ordered and posted.
Personally, I will keep them either way.
I will post actual model # following delivery tomorrow afternoon... though I expect these to sell out as they usually do after the AT effect kicks in.

BTW... PICTURE on Staples link definately shows an IDE 40 pin connector.
I printed the description from the site and will attempt to switch drives (in store) for the SATA drives if IDEs get delivered (as I now expect).

This from bensbargain fourm:

# 18 Posted 11:14 AM PDT 5/8 by C C Unregistered - Email: N/A - IP: 68.153.222.178

Just talked to them. It is an EiDE Drive. Cancelled my order. They tried to sell me the SATA for $139.99. They also said they are trying to fix the website as we speak

=====
This getting confusing; that message is date at 11:14AM pacific time and now it's almost 5:30PM. If Staples have catch the error, then it should be corrected by now but the ad still not fixed...

wow, good catch, they made mistakes in 2 places, both title and description say SATA. I dont know if outpost still have the 250 gig SATA II for $80 shipped, plus tax in some states, I bought one a few days ago and received today.

My total came out to $72.60 (stacked other coupons). Even if it's EIDE still works out for me. Anyone have any sucess getting it exchanged for a SATA drive?

Funny enough, since my computer is from before Sata existed, EIDE works well for me :)
