I haven't seen this posted yet, but as a buyer of many Staples hot deals, this will make each one just a little sweeter.

Introducing Staples 365 Savings?

but... they also added:

<< Available coupons and rebates will be deducted from the Staples price to come up with a net Staples price when calculating the price match. For example, if you buy an item from us for $100, and we offer a $20 rebate, the net price is $80. If the item is available from another company for $80 or more, there will be no price match. Another example would be if you buy an item from us for $159 and you have a $30 coupon the net price is $129. If the item is available from another company for $125, the price match will be for $4.40 (110% of the difference). >>

-ouch (but we already knew they were starting to do that, except in some stores)

Staples PM Policy sucks, because when I tried to PM a digital camera with an online price they insisted on charging next day priority shipping which was about $30. I could get it with free shipping if I got it shipped normally, but they wouldn't listen. I asked them why they wouldn't accept the free shipping and they said it was because getting the camera at the store is the equivalent of next day shipping because I don't have to wait. Sucks.

Anything that potentially gets me a better deal doesn't suck @ss.

There is potential hotness here. Thanks for the info.

I haven't PMed at a B&M for sometime now. The last time was when I got in on the Sony 64MB Memory Stick for $15. I'll make sure to PM if something good comes up.

In the last couple of weeks, I have tried to twice PM items from other websites to get a lower price from Staples on-line. First, I get told Staples stays away from matching Amazon.com. Something about too many third parties selling on that website. Then I attempted last Friday to PM on a laser printer that was around $100 cheaper at compusure.com. The Staples CSR made the manadate phone call and checked out the deal over at the competitor. Staples would match the price, except I would need to pay $90 for shipping in order to get it overnight. What really p***ed me off was that actually meant Tuesday the 8th. I was told that all items are shipped this way. I asked on Friday where the f*** was the order I placed on-line the 31th. Guess what, I called today and supposely UPS will have my order to me today.

i can understand about the rebate thing.. but the way they count coupons in the net price of pricematch.. that's just simply not right. because if that's what happening, i can just not use the coupon and still get the money deducted for price matching. for example...

buying from staples for $159, and you have $30 off coupon. net price is $129. price matching company for $125. final price of $125 (save $4)

buying from staples for $159, and you have $0 coupon, net price is $159. price matching company has for $125. final price of $125. (save $34.00)

still the outcome would be same... what a dumbass idea.

*edit* actually.. now it does make little difference because of 110% matching crap.
first one would be $124.60 and second one would be $121.60. so.. it comes out to be better if you don't use the coupon. WHAT A DUMBASS IDEA!

originally, you could combine the first and the second:
buy from staples for $159, price match to a $125 price, then apply $30 coupon. final price of $95. (save a lot more than $35)

i can fully understand why staples did this, although i wish they hadn't.

Actually, NOT using a coupon would SAVE you more money because of the extra 10% you would get from Staples. Really a dumbass idea :)

AGAIN:
Dont be confused. The coupons referenced are product specific coupons, NOT TOTAL ORDER COUPONS.

If you buy an HP printer that is priced $159 and it has a $30 Staples/HP coupon, then the price is $129. You can only pm in reference to the $129. If you have a $20 off a $100 purchase, you can add that later.

Reason: You can have multiple items in your shopping cart. The $20 off $100 doesnt relate directly to any product in the cart. Rather it relates to the total of all products. The total order coupons are for the shopping cart, not the item being price matched. If you are confused, just add some paperclips to your order.

Oh how I miss the days of stackable Staple's coupons and non-caring CSR's...

It seems like everytime I try to PM Staples lately, I get the run around...it's just not worth the hassle most of the time. I think they offer "how to be an ass" training for their managers and reps... :D

Staples sux...Dell's my new bitch! ha ha.

I remember when Office depot did that 155% stuff. I PM a couple of DVD's that were about $10 difference each. The manager said he would PM it this one time, but K-mart wasn't really a competetor. I said ok...Give me the 155% then :D He wasn't too thrilled about that :Q . I ended up walking out of the store with 2 of them for about $1.50.

I wonder what that extra 10% could equal with some creative PM and rebates?

If Staples had decent pricing in the first place, we wouldn't have to hassle with price matching all the time.

FYI - I was in our local B&M pickin up the free jar iof Andersons Souerdogh pretzels using the coupon that Staples sent to Dividend Gold members last week and I inquired about Staples new pricing policy. The manager showed me a corporate memo about their new policy effective 1/2/2002. Basically the new policy gives you an extra 10% of the difference in price and not the original product price. So if you PM a item at Staples that costs $100 and you see the item for $90, You get the item for $89.

Despite what was posted to the contrary, the new PM policy includes ALL Staples coupons including the following... Product Specific Instant Savings, Staples and product specific rebates including manufacturer rebates when the retailer that you are PMing is not a participating retailer in the manufacturer rebate program,Staples dollar off or percentage coupons, Staples Credit Card or Staples Corporate Card Offers. The following are not included in any retailer PM....Staples Dividend Dollars and Staples Gift Checks.
