I still don't have my rebate for that Envision monitor that I bought Day after Thanksgiving.

I know, neither do I? did anyone get it yet? I plan on calling them in the next few days.

No, I don't think that anyone here other than the person who saw the ad is SURE it starts on 2/17. Would you call your local store and ask them for us and let us know what they say? Thanks!

Bill

Hey Bill-it won't work... In my experience either the people working at Staples don't know, or they have no interest in telling us. I have no idea why but that was the case for the great 11/23 sale as well as other sales I have tried finding out about. They were extra rude though. I think we'll have to wait until the day before and buy the paper and see the flyer-that's the only way I can see finding out before the actual sale. (It's pretty silly IMHO since if you are having a sale don't you want everyone to know about it? I would say spread the word rather than keep it hush hush-go figure)

I see that my little attempt at scarcasm was lost on you. Of course the store won't tell you what's on sale next week. First, I am sure that except for the manager, and maybe the person who does the receiving and sees what has come in (or has been ordered), no one really knows (or for the most part, cares). People will know about the sale when it starts, which I am sure is fine with the store. It's not like this is the greatest sale ever known to man where people have to get advance notice. Most people do not live their lives looking forward to Staples sales.

Also, stores don't like to let customers know what's on sale in future weeks because it prevents them from buying it now. Not everyone is like us, only buying when it's deeply on sale :).

Sometime over the weekend someone posted a deal for the upcoming Staples sale starting on the 17th.. it was for a maxtor 40Gb or 60Gb, i think, and involved a pricematch against 1stonweb.com for the same drive, then a coupon for $20 off $100 and rebate of $30... the total came to around $69 i think.. anyone seen this thread? i can't find it... help!!!

please pm me the url if you know what i'm talking about, or if you know the details to this deal...

thanks.

I can't see how this is going to work reliably given that Staples new PM policy is that they take rebates and coupons into account. You may have to try several times until you find someone who doesn't know the rules or doesn't care to enforce them.

Getting an AMEX Blue card and letting them do the PM really seems like the simplest and surest thing to do (until they wise up).

I bought one of those monitors for my Grandparents and sent the rebate in for them also. They got the rebate in the mail the third week of December. Was shocked at how fast it came. Not one complaint can be heard from me.

I see that the Veo Stingray webcam listed in the first post is now on the Staples web site, SKU 466442

The Visioneer 8100 is also back. I would look for them with rebates starting tomorrow (Thursday) if past history holds true.

They paid me to get my visioneer on a 70 MIR, only works on 98,95 and NT. This was through a price match in a previous thread. It works great BTW

Is this available online or do you need to go to the local store?

Well... I have P133MHz. Do you think they will take it for $100? :)

The Visioneer 8100 (which is the same one as had the $70 rebate last week) works with XP. There are drivers on their site. In addition, there is apparently a new shipment which has XP support in the box, including Paperport 7! Look for "Windows XP" on the UPC label!

The 8100 I bought last week does have drivers for XP (was detected without a problem) and does include version 7 of paper port, which is XP compatible. FYI.

Right, it all depends on whether you got old stock or new stock. A co-worker whose order got held up and had to call to get it released had his shipped from an alternate warehouse (this was after they had taken it off the website and it had sold out at my local warhouse). His had the updated CD. The rest of us who had old CD's made copies of his :). I assume there is no difference in the hardware itself between the different versions.

My local store had 4 left on Saturday but I did not know to look for the XP differentiation on them to see if they had new stock. I am heading out for a little while now and may stop by a different Staples just to see what theirs say.

No! I don't know, the person who first posted this Infomation never did a update, but the ads for the President's Day sale should be posted on Staples web site here Staples In-Store Specials, shortly after midnight (est) friday morning, less than 36 hours from now.

Yep-it sure was-very hard to pick up on sarcasm over the web with no intonations.

well for example-that last big sale on black Friday, no one knew about that sale-(except here because of Babbadu-if ti weren't for him-I dont think anyone would have known) until the day before-Thanksgiving. Most people do not have time to read the paper on Thanksgiving and since it was only an early bird special for only 3 hours-it is pretty silly of them because most people never hear about the sale until after it's over, and the ones who do-are the ones-like us -who won't buy unless it's a sale so any way you look at it-its pretty idiotic of them.

Well, I guess the retailers of this country are doing things wrong because that is how most of them work. As for day after Thanksgiving ads, unless your local newspaper does not publish on the holiday the ads *do* appear on Thanksgiving Day, when, contrary to your opinion, people obviously do read the newspaper. And given that the stores were busy (certainly my local Staples was), obviously people DO read the ads. For Sunday ads, if you get home delivery of your newspaper you will often receive the ads on Saturday, but until fairly recently people got their ads on Sunday and had to deal with it.

Meanwhile, I was at my local Staples tonight, figured I could ask one of the kids there if they had a circular for Sunday. They said they didn't have them. They are obviously sitting in a corner in some room and won't be put out until Sunday morning, and the employees will not care that they are not available until then. The only indication of big sales are a couple of big piles of machines wrapped in plastic with the "2-16" notation on them.

My scanner came with the new software but the stinkin dvd drive didn't want to read the cd. I ended up having to make a copy of it to get it installed.

Go Bubbadu :)

BTW, I checked out my local store tonight and they had a bunch of new stock 8100's. The only indication is that the UPC label says Windows XP on it. Strangely, the box does still say Paperport 6, but it's got 7 on the CD!

Bubbadu: you rock! I can't wait for the scans! Last year I bought $100's of stuff at President's Day sales and paid almost nothing for it all after rebate and coupons! Of course last year I was in NYC. This year I'm stuck upstate with only a Staples, Office Max, and BB. Maybe there will be some online deals.
