It doesn't matter if you get a gift card or not. So what you get a gift card, you then buy something else at Staples and use the gift card for the purchase. Or.... You return something, get them to take the difference of the item returned off. The item ends up costing more money and you get a gift card for the extra you didn't spend. Either way, you are basically getting a gift card. The only difference is when you use it.

Yeah, but you can't buy anything directly from the store using their store credit that they don't carry anyway. So if you place your order on-line and they aren't going to ship it from the store then your whole little not getting a giftcard thing is worthless.

Not everyone has a computer at home to order online. If someone is shopping and the store doesnt have it in stock or dont carry it locally, then that person can order it online from within the store. Just another way to make a sale. Its not stupid at all.

If you order online at the store, it is shipped from Staples.com, you don't take it out the store. Looks like you would have had two sets if you didn't catch it in time.

The mistake must be in the store, when you do the pay at the register it shouldn't ship if you pick up at the store. I haven't gotten any order confirmation emails yet and I picked everything up in the store. The pay at the register receipt had some pretty detailed instructions on it, if they didn't folllow them then maybe it defaults to shipping to you. Not to be a wisenheimer, but have you been charged twice?

Ok, well in response to your little not everybody has computers at home. Well where I live the libraries have internet access so you can go there to buy things. If they don't have what you want they have this thing called a catalog that you can order from. I guess if they are only using this system as an On-Line catalog not affiliated with Staples.com it is a good idea.

GUTSAVUS...you may get 2 sets of items for 1 charge!! If you chose "apy at register" then you were supposed to pay there, so staples.com wouldnt charge you...lucky you if they send the merchandise!!

You shouldnt reject the merchandise, theyll always come pick it up from you later if you tell them about their mistake...

The ways of Staples are strange indeed. This morning my order is flagged *Item(s) Not Available" which is apparently Staples way of saying the item was picked up in the store. Problem solved.
