Staples no longer price matching Crucial ?

I just got off the phone with a CR from Staples and he said that Staples will not price match Crucial because they cannot verify the manufacturor of Crucial's memory(huh?).

Anyways ... bottom line is that he said they could not price match against Crucial, and that the note came down from Corporate!

Anyone else heard about this, or should I try again with a different CR.

I agree. Phone and try again. I have been told a number of different things by different CSRs. Phoning back again usually yields different results. Try a couple of times if you still have no luck.

On a similar note, I tried pricematching the KDS AV-7TF with onvia and here's what they pulled.

On staples site it says 3-5 days delivery time.
Onvia has two shipping options: Free for 3-7 days and $50 for 2-4 days.

I called three times and EACH time they said they had to charge $50 because there's no way that staples would take 7 days to deliver the monitor. It's obvious to me that the 3-5 days shipping and the 3-7 days shipping is comparable. I think they know what the big pricematching sites are and they're finding ways to make it less profitable for consumers to pricematch (Onvia, Crucial...). Then again, that would be a little too clever...
