Staples no longer makes HP compatible ink cartridges?

I wonder - could it be that HP ink carts include the print head while the others are just ink tanks?

HP probably told them to stop refilling their
cartridges. HP frowns on anyone even giving
a Discount on new cartridges. Check the prices.
You will fin almost every web site or store within
a few cents of each other or the same cost. And
some newer HP units, will no show the ink level
correct if the cartridge is refilled (if it even prints)

No, the ink their refilling partner was using was an exact rev. eng. of HP's patented ink, so HP sued them. It'll be a while before they come up with a suitable replacement. Who'd buy ink at Staples anyway? Way too expensive even for the Staples brand.

I did not know that and so far, have not
used refilled cartridges in my HP7410 .. The
color seems to last a while, but I don't do that
much in color. My original (first) black is almost
empty. But it had a long life (about 1 year or so)
And HP does warranty their ink cartridges if they
do not work, especially if it is before the Use By Date.
So far, I have not had to try their warranty.

I just bought a set of prefilled and refillable ink tanks for my K5400 off eBay and they arrived today. We'll see how it goes...

And, . . . HP cart printheads are not designed for multiple refills. The old rule of thumb was no more than three times. QC can be very difficult to maintain this way. After about 3 refills, there is visible degredation of the printed imagery.

With HP carts, you get a brand new printhead every time.

That seems to hold true for most brands
of cartridges (HP / Lexmark) where the
printhead is on the cartridge .. about 2-3
refills at most and you need to refill before
the sponge inside has dried out. Otherwise
it usually does not work well. HP & Lexmark
both use a new printhead on a new Factory
Made unit. Costs more that way.

All Staples ink is no longer being made.
That is the information I got at 2 different stores.
