Another bad thing I don't like about the new maxtor, ibm, and seagate drives is the crappy 1 year warranty. How sad is that ? I for one don't like the idea of my harddrive dieing on me every 18 months or so. I am either going to get a western digital drive from newegg that still have the 3 year warranties or a samsung drive with 3 year warranty.

1 yrs warranty because they know their drive is not going to last more then a year due to heavy uses...also this forces you to buy a new one so they can make $$$ and not have to service you for free

anyway i dont mind this is actually good thing, if they sell more harddrive this way their prices will come down alot... i'm constantly buying new harddrive anyway, let not be so cheap and spend some money on newer hd, so they can use it to further their research and keep making bigger hd. making what you have now obsolete in no time.
at one time i spend all my money on harddrive and i have no regret, this certainly helped them alot...but if everyone would at least upgrade every 6 month... this would not be neccessary.

What are you donkeys talking about???
These are the DiamondMax 9+ Ultra series...they have 3 year warranties. I have 2 x 120GB Ultras and 1 x 80GB Ultra and they are ALL 3 YEAR WARRANTIES . I've never had a Maxtor drive die on me, but have had an IBM lose it (my bro lost 3 "DeathStars").

I got board so I just put the hard drive in the cart and started counting down from 99999 until I got a code that worked. The first one that worked turned out to be the 100 off 100 rebate(took about 20min of counting down). God was definatly smiling, after tax it came to $48.43 🙂, confirmation e-mail said I'll get it sometime Wed. How do you beat an 80GB hard drive(w/8MB cache for that matter) for <$50? funny thing was the code on thier web site never did work, could be an even better deal for those that it worked with. because I fooled around with some of the other codes and it's stackable w/ the $50 off 200 code too, as long as your total was $300 or better, I coulda got $300 worth of stuff for $150.
I figured if they're online codes where 5 digits or 16 digits I'd just see which ones worked though the whole 100,000 possible combinations of the 5 digit codes. needless to say, your fingers get tired pretty quick. There where a bunch that were expired that I passed though before hitting the "jackpot".😎
