Staples: Maxtor 160GB 7200RPM Kit $70

1Cheap2Crazy, its allows u 2 attach 2 IDE and 2 SATA drives on this card...great deal..it shows Out Of Stk now 🙁

I just called staples and they said that it "should" be available in-store as well and at the same price. I really question them price matching the online price, but that's been my experience with my local B & M 🙁

OOS almost everywhere because it's been on FW for a while.

Well it's here where I am, but then again everything is always in stock here in Cheyenne.

Edit: I just tried to add another one to my cart just to see, it is OOS now. Oh well good thing I got one earlier.

yup was just about to hit purchase on a 99$ 160gb samsung OEM at newegg, then i saw this deal 🙁 ima sit here refreshing till it's in stock

Well, I just read the fine print at the bottom, ONLY ONE PER CUSTOMER.

HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Guess I'll use the wifes credit card.

It's OOS. Check back Tuesday and Thursday, I use to work for staples and this is when the stores get their stock. Of course you might want to check locally as well, they were always good for pricematching themselves.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION!!!!

Please read, big discussion on FW about this and it's CONFIRMED. This is NOT a SATA drive. It's regular IDE. You just get a dual controller card that does SATA or IDE.

Also, SATA cards are worthless because the max transfer rate of the PCI bus is 132 MBs. So putting a 150 MBs SATA card and drive will make it the same speed as any other IDE drive.

Now, if you have a faster PCI bus, then it'll work. Good luck tho.

Not only that, even it this were a SATA drive, all drives other than Seagate and WD Raptors (new Diamondmax 10 series from Maxtor too) are PATA drives with a SATA bridge. So most have a max of ATA100 or ATA133 regardless of the SATA label.

Keep in mind that the main key to any HDD performance is Seek TIme. It doesnt matter how much bandwidth (100 vs 133 vs 150) because not much hard drives will ever burst that much info per sec. Not to mention that other devices on your pc probably share the PCI pipeline. While most manufacturers don't post burst stats, the seek time can tell you pretty much how that drive will perform as far as speed. Just be sure to check the specs and take more then just the interface into consideration. Just some food for thought.

its still a nice deal to those who are looking to add more storage to a system with 4 IDE drives already, while getting the future additional storage option of using sata drives.
