Anybody know what you need to do to get the upgrader rebate on SystemWorks? I have 2003, but it was an el-cheapo OEM bare-disc-only version, so I don't know if I could get the rebate or not.

Thanks! I took the plunge and fiqured might as well try out these discs....hopefully they work for crappy backups.

Also, anyway to combine the staples $35 rebate on the netgear router with the existing netgear $20 rebate? That would make that deal blazing....

MD.

I got the Norton Systemworks Pro, HP 100 CD-r, and the Maxtor Hard Drive. I got there at 10AM when they opened and there was only 1 hard drive left in stock. Crazy...

I have another stupid question about the Norton deal: can I get the rebates for two copies if I buy two?

This may just be a mistake, and may mean nothing even if it is not a mistake, but the rebate form for the Labtec webcam indicates that it is to be sent to "LOGITECH Promotion xxxxxx". Could be a better unit than one would expect, but maybe not.

Just make sure you use 2 different addresses and names.

Good advice. Call me naive, but that hadn't occurred to me. :D

Logitech is the parent company of Labtec.

well I got the altec lansing 221 speakers...2 sets..one for my wife's computer than other for my son's PS2..nice for the price

Also got a couple of the Energizer UPS....are these any good...only a like 3 min of battery back up for a P4....interestingly there were 2 different versions..one had 1 min of battery back up time...

Is this 3 min one time for the battery..we get a fair number of power surges in FL...I look at these as good $10 power surge protectors...with a little extra

Anyone have any thoughts on these units?

I picked up 2 packs of the TEON DVD-R's and they were both CMC as well, which is great... I've gone through two 50-packs of Memorex DVD-R's that were CMC's and have had no problems playing them in my laptop, stand alone, PS2, and my mom's cheese-o-tron stand alone which is very picky as to what it will play.

The offer seems to be good this week and not just Sunday as I believe it said in the ad (in San Diego anyway).

The Orlando Staples on Colonial Drive (SR 50) across from the Fashion Square Mall and west one block is now back in stock for the 160 GB Maxtor drives. Saw them last night.

Has anyone been sucessful in getting a raincheck from Staples for this item? That might actually be a possibly hotter deal, if you could then go in later and pick one up for the sale price, at the same time that a mfg. rebate promotion is active.

Well, I managed to pick up the 160GB Maxtor 8MB cache 7200 RPM HD last night. I went into BestBuy and got them to PM, on the 22nd, the last day of the Staples sale, about 5 mins before the BestBuy closed. :)
Thankfully, they didn't give me any hassle about the PM, nor had any issues about the store closing soon.

Now I'm wondering if I made a wise choice though, with only the 1yr warranty, and my prior experience with a 60GB Maxtor drive dying in less than 6 months on me. I only bought this drive because I have to do some long-overdue data-recovery work on a friend's computer soon, and buying a new drive for it was the easiest solution, and this was the best price-per-gig combined with the lowest reasonable overall price that I could find. I do wish that it had come with a controller card though. My 160GB WD drive that I purchased for $100 AR some months ago had a 3yr warranty, plus included the Promise ATA-100 controller card, which was worth $20-30 by itself. So in hindsight, I feel like a paid too much for an inferior-quality drive, but I needed one now so I bought it anyways. I guess time will tell if it has any quality problems like the 60GB Maxtor I once owned. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this one.
