I have the identical drive and its sweet as fu... well, sweet as heck. burns 80 minutes in under 5, and you could run 3dmark and not get a coaster. Personally, (and granted this is bias), I feel that Yamaha burners are the best out there.

I have a CR2100EZ and I've gotten coasters when burning repeatedly. I burned 20-30 CD-R's in a row. By the time I got to the 20th, the media was coming hot off the tray and I started getting lockups while burning with Nero and the drive refusing to recognize CD-R media. The other problem is the long time to recognize media as stated before and the loud fan noise when reading any CD media in the drive.

Nothing in the store I go to.:( I would replace my Sony 16X drive with this -- the Sony is just too picky on CD-Rs!
Has anyone gotten one?

The 2100EZ doesn't have buffer underrun protection, aka "Burnproof". All it has is the 8MB buffer. That's probably why you get coasters, if you multitask and do other things while burning. The 2200EZ introduced the buffer underrun protection. The 2200EZ is quiet in my system. I do hear it rev up, but it doesn't rattle like some drives. But like I said before, it does take a while to recognize media. That's why I only use it for burning.

Thats pretty hot deal.. man i bought a 16x HP burner for 99 bucks that can make 20 coasters for every 50 cds. Man what a waste.. could have sold 50 coasters to a restaurant instead of only 20.

Well I own the 2100EZ 16x Yamaha, and I have NEVER burned a coaster. And I am prone to marathon burning sessions of 200 discs or more in succession. My buddies will bring over their CD wallets and I'll copy every disk in there. I'll be burning from when I get up, till late (at least 3am) and never one hickup. In all my experience the 8meg buffer has worked perfectly. Actually when I look at the meter for the buffer it never dips below 97%. I would guess I've burned about at least 1,000 disks if not more.
