The story that I have received is that there are quite a few in a warehouse in Terre Haute, DC but there is something wrong with them and being shipped back to Sony to be re-released.

I managed to get a Yahama 8x4x24x IDE cdrw on Wensday. They had 1 more left, I was tempted to get it also, but passed. I went to 2 other Staples looking for any of the USB models, they were all sold out.

Acer 8432 works fine with CloneCd, couldn't say about the Yam.

I just called about 7 staples stores in san diego area and they are all out. After reading some of the posts on here about the store reps "magically" pulling out cdrw's in the backroom , I decided nonetheless to go to a couple of stores (college grove and la mesa) to see if that still held true... ALL GONE and man, are the reps there real asswipes. guess they tend to get that way after getting about 10-15 requests a day for those burners. lol

I just stopped by Staples to pick up some stuff and guess what:
There was an Espressa on the top shelf behind the CS counter!
I first couldn't believe it, but it was really a brand new one and it rang up for 79.99!!
So check the those places again...
