Anyone get the I/O Magic internal DVD burner and can identify the manufacturer?

No question about it. If it's eligible for the easy rebates do it that way. Nothing to mail and you can have google autofill your info (if you use google toolbar).

How about that 19" Acer, any better deals available for a decent monitor. I really just need one for a computer for my bedroom, mainly used to stream MCE recordings. The recordings will play back on my TV, but would prefer to have a monitor in case I actually need to work on the machine, or maybe even let my son play his kids games on it. I could probablly get by with a 15", but 160 for a 19" seems good

Got one a few months back for my in-law. It's fine for browsing, simple games (never tried any real games on it). I'd buy another if I needed one.

No any games played on it would be kids games and games from like kids websites. Nothing to taxing, since the system is only a Athlon XP 2100+, 512MB ram, don't recall if I have a video card in it or if its using the onboard video.

SO is the price a decent price for a 19"LCD, or could I do better if I waited and looked around a bit? I am guessing I might be able to get something better if I deal with a MIR, but how much better? Instant savings is great.

MicroCenter has a Viewsonic for $10 more, but has a $50 rebate. Monday only.

$139.98 - $20 is - $40 er = $79.98

Best Buy has the same model for $89.99 after "$50 instant savings," but only Sunday & Monday. Price match that @ Staples (who're only doing $20 instant savings) to bring the price down to $49.99 after MIR? Right? That's like... $0.19 for an EXTERNAL drive. Wowzah.

Then again, their price-match policy is confusing. (click)

Will they not price-match since their price after their mail-in rebate is ~$10 cheaper than what Best Buy is offering after instant rebates?

Thanks.
I accidentally found a $10 of $20 Officemax coupon in last week's newspaper. Used it at Staples today for the Playo DVDs. Search Fatwallet for "Officemax"--someone posted a scan of the coupon, but YMMV.

So as stated before, I bought a Canon A540 on Friday for $200 after they refused to give me the Pres. Day sale price of $160. I told them that I would come back in a couple of days for a price adjustment per their policy. So on Sunday I go back and the cashier spends a good 10 minuets doing the return and subsequent repurchase - store computer kept coming up with the wrong price and the store manager had to be located to type in some special code allowing the refund. Of course, people are stacking up behind me in line grumbling big time. Yet another wonderful purchasing experience at Staples. At least the camera seems pretty cool and the price was fair so it?s all good now.

Extremely YMMV, I tried this at 3 Staples and all 3 sited the after rebate price being cheaper than the OTD price at Best Buy. Ended up buying 2 (1 was bad out of the box) at BBY and eating the 20 dollar difference.

Staples pricematch policy sucks. Staples in general has been sliding down hill the last couple years IMHO.

They tightened their coupon polices and the managers seem scared to death to help anymore. In addition, I find a lot of their promotions to suck, going from abundant $30 off $150?s they used to send out to an occasional $20 off $150 and the hen?s tooth rare $20 off $100?s. It has been suggested that they are positioning themselves like Blockbuster, trying to identify and weed out us ?devil? customers who only ask them to play be the rules they set. I am signed up on no less than 20 E-mail accounts and the coupons almost invariably show on the accounts that have not used many in the past. My main account (which incidentally logged close to $10K in purchases last year) virtually never gets coupons anymore.

But back to the pricing policy, I have tried on numerous occasions to have them match price, going out of my way to keep my business with them. Inevitably they weasel their way out even though the price matches are against reputable online dealers such as Amazon, Best Buy, etc.)

As an example, Amazon was selling retail version of Windows XP for $50 delivered. Staples price was $99. Another example was a photo frame I could buy elsewhere for about 60% of what Staples wanted. Both time I got the same lame excuse. ?Well, since we only ship next day, we have to factor in that cost from the other merchant? then, of course the other merchant is much higher.

The 2 things that piss me off about that is:

1) I could care less about getting the item in one day
and
2) Staples has never, ever, delivered to me in one day. That ?one day? delivery is based in large markets where they deliver via a Staples truck. Mine *always* take 2 or more days to arrive.

All that said, I do find Easy Rebate to be a nice feature and out of the hundreds and hundreds of rebates I have logged, only 2 had issues that were promptly corrected. Sad as it is I have over a grand in rebates out right now with Staples.

If you want a coupon you can find $15 off 75 (exp 4-15) in an ad at MSNBC. Check out the FW thread.

Just to follow-up. I ended up getting an OTD price-match on the BBuy price by going for the 1-year replacement plan. Instead of saving $40 off of BBuy, I only ended up saving $20. Still, before tax the price/GB is ~ $0.28.

(89.99+19.99-40) / (250) = 0.2799

Not bad for an external drive.

That was like a dream, thank you my friend. I'm set for the next 2 months now. ;-)

I have a feeling someone at Staples is gonna have an "Oh, s**t" morning when they see how many coupons were issued. Looks like some of those guys are printing a lot of them.

Picked up an I/O Magic 16X burner today. Mine is an LG GSA-H10N. I was expecting a Lite-on (like the last one I bought) but CDRLabs likes this model too. Link:)

I hooked up with 7 purchases this evening with using the $15 off on each one. Made some damn nice deals some outstanding deals.

Examples:

200Gb 3yr warranty Maxtor HD - $25
16x DVD Writers - $12.50
512Mb 3200 DDR RAM - $25

Looking forward to checking the brand on the DVD's. Hoping for BenQ, but LG would be cool.

I'm in for the Cruzer Micro 2GB, I/OMagic Internal and a stack of Playo +R's. I had a $25 off from Discover cash back so it cost me ~ $35 AR's. Easy rebates already filled out and processing.

I'll post the drive s/n when I get I install it tonight.
