This CDROM sux!
I had this about 3 month ago.
It went dead after two days ........ still under warranty, but I don't want to waste $5 to ship it back to the manufacture.

I got a few of these for my work. One guy uses it every day to play his audio cd's. So far we haven't had any problems with them. I rather imagine it's not Toshiba but they're not too bad. They sell the 52x of their cd-rom online for $27.
If they also make the cpu fans everyone has been raving about their 60mm 38cfm fans...

This drive is still working well in my Linux computer for data and audio CD's. I've had it for about 3 months, after buying it from Staples with for $10 with the same kind of deal.

I bought this drive last year & it works great. Faster & quieter than my old 32x compaq drive. It's a little slow on the spin-up, but real fast once it gets going.

this thing's louder than a jet engine, but reads normal CD's fine.

beware, though, as mine has trouble reading CD-R's and almost refuses to read CD-RW's.

Got one for free few months ago: $40-$20 coupon-$20 rebate.
Works fine, but is not best CD-ROM
Takes long time to start spin, makes some noise on high speed.
But for this price ($10) should be good.

Ark:
Exactly, the drive sounds as if it is a plane on a runway. And it vibrates quite much.
Try to get the slower (40x) drive, it really reads faster than the 50x and is much more quiet.

the drive sounds ok to me...
takes time to spin up, which is even slower than my teac 32x

btw,
Just bought a Delta 50X cd-rom as advertise for 39.98 with 20 Mail-in-rebate at a Staples
B&M. The employee give me a rebate coupon promptly.

When I check my rebate coupon, it stated that $20 MIR on Delta 50X CD-ROM Drive (Model #OIP-CD5000 A/G) with sku #441950 is required.
However the sku on my receipt shows the barcode
of the product is 658601501008 instead.

I can neither find the model #OIP-CD5000 A/G nor the sku #441950 on the cd-rom box.
To those who bought the cd-rom, can u tell me what sku # is printed on the receipt ?
and do u guys have the barcode 658601501008 on the box ?

kind of weird..... .....

thanks

I got a similar deal a few months ago. Loud as a vacuum cleaner. Slow as an 8X. And dead after about 3 months. Caveat emptor.
