If you've no need for photos, the Canon PIXMA MP530 is a good alternative. It's a "business"-class all-in-one, and has an single-sided automatic document feeder for scanning and copying.

530 also has a 33.6 fax. Nice. What makes the 530 inferior to the 600 for photos?

By the way the MP600 is $155 w/free shipping at Amazon.com which is a good price but this is even better.
