[UPDATE]

The dealer examined my vehicle and determined there was no engine damage. Three sensors were damage, however (MAF, etc). They have estimated $700 to fix the vehicle.

I went ahead and filed a comprehensive claim, so I probably won't get my car back until next week. While waiting, I get to drive around in a 2004 Prius.

Surprisingly well. When I went in to Enterprise, the guy asked if I'd like to try it out. I said, "sure, why not."

The steering is more loose than I'm used to. The brakes are also stiff. It is very quiet. It is kinda hard to look out the back and back/side windows. There is a LCD display that shows an engine diagram. You also control the A/C, Radio, options, etc through it.

If it wasn't so butt-ugly, I'd consider getting one.

what's the point of putting a CAI in the Tiburon ?

hydrolocked.... youre fvcked and chances are the dealer wont pick up the bill because of the intake. CAIs are stupid and theres virtually no gainhp gain compared to normal cone intake

thats not true btw. some cais are quite good.

anyways if ur cai is lower than your stock airbox in terms of entrance to the air you can be sure the dealer will deny warranty service if its hydrolocked.

show me a dyno chart,
i have yet to see anything more than 1 or 2 hp increase

Regarding CAIs..almost everybody says that it's the best/cheapest thing to do to a car -- mine sounds better, but that's about it..couldn't really tell any other difference.

Heh. I never put my Wrangler through that much. Dad would most likely kill me if anything happened :). I prolly did 1-1.5 feet of water at max.

Like this except a little more.

sweet, sounds like water lock
know a guy who had that happen to him in a corolla (surprisingly nice corolla).. new engine
but yes regarding CAI's, they are definitely the best bang for buck mod you can do... sounds better, and develops decent power for $.

BS.
NAWZZZZ is the best bang for the buck. Followed by either a supercharger or chip, depending on your budget.

Its already been posted as an update, but I was going to say I highly doubt you hydrolocked it. My money would be on shorting a sensor.

wrong, completly wrong.
If you spend 120 bucks ain AEM intake that will get you 5 hp, thats $24 / hp. If you slap a supercharger on a 5.0 or an LS1, you can get good 300hp out of it for ~$3g that $10/hp

Cold air intake is a ricer keyword, spend 120 bucks on a quality K&N FIPK kit that wont lock up your engine when it starts raining. Unless you have a sealed hood scoop that leads to an intake, your cone filter sticking from some bumper hole is pretty pointless

[UPDATE 2]

It ended up being $747 for parts and labor (3 sensors). The rental was $203 (w/ insurance each day). My overall cost will end up being $570.

I've lost interest in modding, so I will probably pull the CAI out and put the stock intake back in it. I may just get the bypass valve...but probably not.

As far as the car is concerned: it is handling like it was before. If something else goes wrong, I hope it happens in less than 8 months (bumper-to-bumper ends)...
