I got mine a few days ago and installed Suse 9.1 on a freshly assembled NF2 rig. I'm looking forward to trying all the goodies they include.

Everything was detected and configured with no intervention from me, same as the results I got with previeous versions in the past. Of the distros I have played with Suse has always been the one that everything worked the first time.

This is not your basic made by 2 guys in a garage somewhere disto.......Suse is prob Linux's best bet to break into the buisness desktop market. IMHO

for the price of FREE it's hard to not give it a try.

Holy crap, do I gather that they're shipping this anywhere for free? What an interesting policy given that they don't usually even supply iso downloads of Suse (far as I'm aware, which might not be very far  ).

Thanks Zepper

I find it weird that I couldn't find links to this from anywhere on Novell's site. How did you find this Zepper?

I found it on another techie web site: http://www.TechIMO.com . I've posted quite a few reviews in their 'User Reviews' section (two of which are in their top ten for hits, he bows) - check 'em out!

P.S. I've gotten SuSE Professional off ebay as burned disks - I think it was v.8.2. I think it's 5 or 6 months after a new version comes out that they post their ISOs. I just went by eBay to check and sure enough someone has 9.1 Pro on CDs or DVD for a starting bid of 99 cents. Novell and SuSE have merged - or Novell bought SuSE. Not sure which.

Thanks for the heads up :)

Funny, we're evaluating a few choices about what to run at work, and SuSE Enterprise is one of them :)

Cool. This Suse/Novell merge opens up a whole new potential territory for Linux in the workplace.

From one place you can now get everything for Linux that you could possibly get from MS.

Novell's Nterprise stuff. The Netware network domain stuff. You can get a "groupware" server (think MS Exchange), office tools/suites. Business-specific targeted desktop enviroment. Corporate support. E-mail clients, browsers. SQL servers, internet servers, etc etc etc etc.

All in one tidy package. Well almost tidy. You get it in one big company though. This is the sort of thing that you could only get from MS. Before with Linux you had to peice it all together yourself, but I suppose if you give Novell enough money they'll soon be able to set you up with a practicly turn-key coporate network enviroment running completely on Linux.

Good stuff, plus with Mono and bunches of other smaller projects Novell is doing a decent job at providing code back the community. Remember that they did GPL Yast/Yast2, which Suse neglegted to do for a long time.

Novell has been filling in the linux corporate blanks, so to speak.

Take that, buy a couple IBM Power servers to run it, and cheapo desktops for clients... and be the envy of coporate businesses everywere.

Thank you for ordering the Linux Technical Resource Kit from the Novell Customer Communities. Your order has been received, and will ship within the next 7-10 business days.

I think I will give it a try w/my new rig that I plan to build this month. Else I will give it to somebody at my local LUG.

Received my copy yesterday. All DVD format and they all say "Evaulation Software" on each CD. The only thing that excites me is Suse Professional 9.1. I just hope it's not the LiveCD. Nevertheless, I will install it today and give a mini review.

Seems to be dead now. I just got in on this last night. I'm really interested in using the Nterprise and Groupwise stuff.

The disks are DVDs not CDs - full versions are on there. Any that missed out and don't have their own resources, PM me. Something might be arranged...
