Stairway to Heaven vs. Freebird

Stairway to Heaven is the worst song ever made. It embodies every cheesy rock cliche. It don't care if it was the seminal "November Rain" style song. It sucks. It really sucks.

Freebird, no mullet here either but Stairway's just annoying once you've heard it 50,000 times, as anyone who doesn't live under a rock has.

"I've had a long day, and I hate the fvcking eagles man!"

The Eagles rule! If you said that, you are an ass! 😛

"On a dark desert highway... Cool wind in my hair... warm smell of colitas..."

"Up ahead in the distance..... I saw a shimmering light.......My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim....I had to stop for the night..."

There she stood in the doorway... Heard the mission bell... I was thinking to my self, this could be heaven or this could be hell...

"Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way.....There were voices down the corridor.....I thought I heard them say....."

"Welcome to the Hotel California....... Such a lovely place (such a lovely place) such a lovely face....."

Freebird is in the same category as "You light up my life", "Having my baby", and "Piano man" they have been over played until they are very effective emetics.
Yeah like Stairway to Heavan has been played into the ground:roll:

That said I like both ot them, though I like LZ better than LS.

Led Zep has more talent in one guitar string than lynard sh*tard ever thought of having. Freebird is a good song, but the songs are in different leagues entirely. Freebird is better suited to the hicks from whench Skynard came.

rofl

Quote of 2005 so far.

What song is it you wanna hear?

FREEEBIIIIRD!!!

EDIT:

I like Stairway, but musically, I consider LZ waaaaaaaaay overrated. More talent in one guitar string....hardly. Perhaps actually listening to the music in question would help.

My vote was for Stairway. Never got any tail while Freebird was playing in the background, easy decision.

People like Stairway to Heaven because it's a great song... without it we would have probably been without dozens of good artists/bands that were inspired by it - actually I wouldn't doubt that it still serves as a template for aspiring rockers everywhere. The song incorporates a lot of different sounds & beats into the greatest power ballad ever. Also any true guitar fan cannot deny Jimmy's short but amazing solo or Bonham's perfectly placed pounding on the skins. I'm a little biased because IMHO without Zeppelin rock and roll would not be what it is today, but if you don't like Stairway do you even like rock?
