Here's a thought: If you got the cancellation email, got the card anyway, and your credit card was charged, couldn't you dispute the charge since you have proof that the order was cancelled? I guess it'd kind of be biting the hand that feeds you, but in this case, since I didn't get a card, it seems like a fair thing to do.

Well guys I just came back from Target. There was absolutely nothing I wanted. Moreover, the place was a mad house. SO many people...so I waited and because I couldn't buy anything I bought 2 X 50 dollars GC with my 1 X 100 GC.

I think I should be safe now.

Same thing happened to me...both orders cancelled and no record of my orders - but a $100 gift cert showed up. I spent $10.77 of it tonight, and everything went fine.

Like I said above...I'll be watching my CC statements.

Wow, so some had their orders fulfilled, some had their orders cancelled, and some had both! Dayamn.

Lucky for those few. And for those pissed about not getting them: Seriously, are you that hard up for something to be pissed at that you are mad because you aren't getting free money? Sometimes the hot deals provide, sometimes companies don't bend. Just because they didn't want to give you $30 for free doesn't mean they are an evil heartless corporation, just one that wants to stay in business.

As for PeterPan76: Lucky Bastage! I now have hope that I'll get mine 😀

This could be more widespread than it seems. I got cancellation emails on 2 orders for $100 GC's.....but sure enough one order arrived in the mail today. It seems a lot of folks are getting them even after the cancellation email.

Very strange. I too got the cancellation and the order totally disappearing from my account, and yet today, I get a $100 card. When I log back into my Target account, there is still no record of my order.

Sh1t, I think Target's system for ordering Gift Cards is automated. Meaning that once the order is placed, the card and letter are printed out.

So they probably mailed them before they had a chance to stop their creation.

Dammit, I should've ordered twenty.

I got it in regular mail. The postmark says Sioux Falls SD. The postmark by a company stamp machine says Dec 17, which is two days after my original order.

If you think its weird getting a card after your order has been cancelled, listen to this.

My sister ordered one and got it no problem on Monday in the mail. Today, Airborne Express wheels up with another one! She'll be watching her statement.

Same thing happend to me . . . ordered two cards under different email addresses. For one of the cards I received a cancellation email.

Saturday I received one of the $100 cards via US mail. Then today, Airborne Express delivers another one. The second was sent to me via 2nd day air. Nothing has been charged to my credit card though.

I believe retailers have something like 60/90 days to charge you for it. Someone might want to do some research. I mean they can probably prove you got it and used it because of the unique GC code or something. Oh well here's  to hoping I get one 🙂

Watching her statement? For what? Being charged $142 for $200?

it would also be possible for target to void the gift card since it's all electronic so i'd spent it fast.

I'm not going to use this until I see the original authorization of $71.95 on my credit card. I'm afraid if I spend it quick, and they decide to charge me the full $100, I will be stuck buying $100 worth of stuff at Target.

If they charge you, you can always dispute it with your credit card. C'mom they sent you a cancellation letter. Moreover, it took them 2-3 weeks to charge you when they say they sent you the card 3 weeks prior? That doesn't make too much sense.

You can always say you never got the card either. (Was there a tracking # on the email) I never got one my order was just cancelled.

Just my 2c.

What if they try to charge her $100 for the 2nd one?

so she gets $200 for the price of $172. Your point?

I think the point is obvious:

Original purchase was for $100 GC for ~$72 = 28% gain

Then if charged extra then $200 GC for ~$172 = 14% gain

In my book a 28% gain is better than 14% gain, therefore returning the second $100 GC for credit back would be the option to follow.

i got mine, and on my target visa charged 71.95. no way they'll pull shenanigans with my target visa lol.

good buy no doubt

Exactly! But I guess some people aren't smart enough to figure it out by themselves.

Since this thread is relatively inactive, only one post yesterday, I'm guessing that not that many people got sent the card after the order was cancelled. It doesn't look everyone who ordered cards for 30% off are getting them.
