As I recall, that's a memory related error. Can you give us specs on the system you are using? Operating system?

Looks like Mcafee causes it

If you are getting the following error:
MCSCAN32.VXD Error
Contact Network Associates Technical Support.
Quote: "Stack exceeded by 256 bytes"
Press any key to continue.

Shut down/disable and stop the McAfee VirusScan processes. Download/install the update and let us know if that goes through without a problem or if you get the same error.

Please email me at ForumAdmin@McAfeehelp.com with "MCSCAN32.VXD Error" in the subject. We are going to send these cases to Tier 3 support.

You need to send me the following information:

NOTE: Please, also attach a screen shot of the error message. We also need the main registry file for McAfee.

From the taskbar, click Start.
Click Run.
Type regedit and click OK.
The Registry Editor appears.

Click on the (+) next to Hkey_Local_Machine
Click on the (+) next to Software
Click on the McAfee.com folder to highlight it.

From the menubar, click Registry.
Note: If using Windows XP, click File.
Click Export.
The Export Registry File dialog box appears. In the 'Save in' drop-down menu, select Desktop.
In the 'File Name' field, type "McAfee".

NOTE: Make sure where it says, "Export Range" that it is set to Selected branch and show the location of the McAfee.com folder
Click Save.
