Stable memory match for old PC3000

Back in the day my game box was a Asus P4S8X, 2.5GHz, with 1G of Kingston PC3000 HyperX ram, KHX3000K2/1G. It was sweet for a while but now I'm repurposing the machine to be a server, particularly to host virtual machines.

I want to upgrade the ram to 2G, but there is PC3000 ram on the market anymore. That and there are only 3 slots for ram on the motherboard, two of them taken already. My choices are to buy PC2700 or PC3200, which isn't difficult, but I'm worried about long term stability of matching high performance ram, the HyperX, with something lower performance. Is this enough of a concern for me to pay the extra to get HyperX PC3200?

Thoughts?
