I forgot to update on the green stuff on the pin. On closer inspection, I don't think there is any. It was just the way the light was reflecting off the concave part of the bend in the pin that made it look much darker. I think the green of the CPU was what it was reflecting. When I used a flashlight, I couldn't see anything.

BTW, the CPU in question has been in my main rig now for about 3 hours. It's been running SETI, the forums, and a few games of UT2K3. No problems whatsoever. I'm going to leave it in for a while longer though.

This isn't overclocked, correct? Or else I'd say try to give the CPU more voltage.

No overclock. If it's the PSU that's the problem, I don't think giving it more voltage would help😉 Plus, it's already hot in the case. I don't want to fry the CPU with heat.

Your temps are rather high. I think it's odd, since my CPU (1700+ @ 2200 Mhz, 1.65 v) runs at 40-45C.

That's using an SLK-800 - but I'm still shocked yours is so much hotter at stock.

And since your North bridge is so hot, have you tried adding a fan to it?

I have not tried adding a fan to the northbridge. Like I said, I haven't had this system very long to test with it.

As for my temps, they are probably higher because my ambient temp is higher. What does your mobo read for you system temp? Mine is usually up around 100F.

Still, the temps I'm getting from the CPU are well within spec.
