Stabality Test

Here is a Stabality test that will give you a cert that proves what your OC is. It has to be run for 12 hrs to get the cert. Have seen alot of guys say that they have something an turned out to be wishfull thinking. My Duron 700 passed at 1032. This is an updated one from what I used though I had ver. 5.2 and now he has out 6.0 build 154. See if your OC is really an OC or not try it...

Well, this is my personal BIAS, but I don't think a computer is stable unless the video is stressed at the same time.

At certain CPU voltages, I can run those CPU stress testers for a long time without a problem, but... throw in a GPU stressor like Unreal Tournament flyby and my computer will crash within an hour with the same settings as before. This is consistent. (A long time to me is overnight. OK it's not 12 hours, but you get the picture.)

I dunno what it is. I don't think it's a memory issue only, because I can run a memory tester as well and usually it's fine, and because upping the CPU voltage will stabilize it. Perhaps it's just the extra heat in the case (but I'm not sure because I can't measure CPU temp).

I agree w/ this also.. I did try the stability test (in fact its running now at home while im at work). I do think however that this plus some 3dmark2k and UT flyby overnight is a good test...

Q3 is probably a better "SYSTEM" tester, but as far as pure cpu-pushing, prime95 or cpu stablity test. That combined with a sub-system stresser(ala q3 with sound) is how I like to check if my chips are stable.

Throw SETI@HOME on there or crack RC5 for 12 hours. If your CPU can handle it, it will make it through anything.

not always... stressing different subsystems(ala video with q3) can sometimes crash a system that is "prime95" stable.

I've not found that to be the case ,I run SETI ,on my old Cel 366 @578 @2.15v it would be fine running SETI for days on end ,but throw UT or Unreal at it & it would crash within 1/2hr ,it was fine at 550 MHz 🙂.

I agree ,vid card needs testing at the same time ,& UT/Unreal is 1 of the best for showing unstable systems.

I don't know about flyby with UT but you could instead set up a Botmatch with max number of bots with levels automatically switching (make sure you set a time limit as well as a frag limit).Leave it playing with itself (!) for about 3hrs .If its still playing UT when you get back to it its most likely OK🙂

Thats not the question. What if I said my Duron was running at 1250MHz would you believe me? If I had that cert I would have proof that I had what I said I had. Plus it will stress the processor to see if it will run at that clock speed...

I see your point ,but you'd would still want to run UT (or some other 3D game/app) to stress the whole system to be sure its stable.

One thing though ,I don't fancy robbing SETI of 12hrs of cpu time!😉
