Generally speaking, isn't the US gov't based on the concept of "If it ain't disallowed, it's acceptable?" So I could argue that the Constitution does NOT disallow loud car stereos :D

:) I agree with this guy.

Premium sound systems are a necessity if you're going to be on the highway with the windows down, but it's not like anyone else can hear you over the wind noise

Why would you drive down the highway with your windows open? Do you like having hurricane force winds slapping you in the face?

Anyway, it's not on the highways that there is a problem, it's on the streets.

Amendment IV:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

I bolded the relevant parts for you

How would you like your car to be declared illegal next month and siezed without your input...

Which does not apply. If the police have a warrant and found that you have violated the law, then they can seize your property. There is nothing unconstitutional about this. The only real legal test of such an ordinance is about the law itself, not about the seizure.

Of course, that's all but meaningless anymore. Did I say all but meaningless? I meant entirely meaningless. :)

I'm curious as to why they chose to prohibit a certain number of speakers when they almost surely have a noise ordinance already. I don't believe these people are THAT stupid, so there must be some underlying reason that we're not aware of (not that that would make it right)

What in the world does the number of speakers have to do with music being played loud? Don't they have a noise ordinance? Why don't they just enforce that instead of trying to confiscate people's property for no good reason? Jesus Christ, this sounds like legislation made up by a bunch of junior high school vice principals.
