St. Louis, no longer a blip on the crime radar

I used to go to Springfield quite a bit, and Springfield has some areas that make South Chicago look tame (not really, but you get the point).

Peoria has the same types of areas but the crime must not be as bad there.

The biggest problem is that there is nothing to do there. No reasonable outdoor activities, no good colleges for sports, no arts to be involved in, etc. etc.

I will say there downtown has been looking nice lately, especially with the presidential library addition.

Springfield? I'm fucking from Springfield and the state..nay....the nation has MUCH worse shitholes.

Someone needs to review the stats and how they were collected.

Par for the course with most IL cities and towns, outside the UofI.

maybe you should move back to improve the statistics 😀

This is based just on violent crime rates (per 100,000 people), so its just one facet of shithole designation.

No thanks, had enough after 23 years.

I wonder if they mixed up some obesity numbers with the crime numbers though...every time I go home I marvel at how fucking fat everyone is.

Lubbock, TX is racking up "awards"

10th place for worst drivers (should be #1)
6th place for most dangerous city

LOL.. regardless, I know where I don't belong! I'll keep my happy ass in Bloomington or Clinton 🙂 At least then I have a half-ass chance of living.

I grew up and lived in Springfield for about 20 years......I'm surprised its on this list. It's not the perfect place, but I never felt unsafe anywhere in the city at any time.

The last time we posted a list of this sort a few weeks ago Rockford made the list.

Rockford?! No shit?? I knew Rockford wasn't exactly the greatest city, but I wouldn't think of them as being on a list as one of the most "crime-ridden". It has been quite a few years since I've been there tho, so It could've done a complete 180 on me.
