St. Louis knocks Detroit out of another 1st place finish

Wow, if Compton is only at #4 I shudder to think how dangerous the top 3 cities must be. You probably can't walk down the street at night without fear of being shot or assaulted.

I really can't speak for Detroit or STL, but I do know that in most of the large cities that I've ever lived or been in, most of that type of crime was usually concentrated to very defined parts of a city. When you hear about a shooting or an assault on the news you can almost point on a map where it happened before they give the address.

Certain neighborhoods just really skew the statistics for the rest of the city.

I've been in downtown Detroit several times at night and it's not THAT bad. Granted, I was in the more revitalized areas around Greektown, so it was probably a lot safer.

I've also been through parts of Detroit in the day that made me nervous.

I went over Compton once on the train in LA. It doesn't look like a nice place to be.
