St Louis hits record homicide count

There are a lot of people dying, just so that I can keep my guns.
But you know what ?
It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

Removing the guns would probably decrease the number of murders significantly. St. Louis has deep problems which honestly require more work and sacrifice than people are willing to put in. I wish I had a solution, but the crime is spreading out of the city into the suburbs now. It really puts a damper on any desire I have to buy a house here. I'm still waiting for us to build a facility somewhere deep in the mountainous woods so I can transfer. 😛

I didnt say "remove the guns" I just said the Republicans arent gonna do anything. What I meant by that was Employment and Education. The two things that ACTUALLY reduce crime in America but for some reason get ignored year after year. We gotta start spending more on improving our children and any adults who cant get jobs.

Why would the republicans be blame for crime in a city where currently the mayor and all 28 city council member are democrats and the democrats haven't had less than 22 of 28 city council and the mayor since the 1950s?

Because the GOP controls the federal level. When this happened in St Louis under Obama it was the GOP Governors fault. See how this works on this msgboard? Move the goal posts to where you need in order to blame the GOP.

Please. The problems of St Louis & similar places are bigger than local govts can solve. They've become income sources for rent seeking investors who don't live there, seek only profit & eschew civic responsibility. Of course they're run by Democrats. Repubs don't want to take any responsibility for it, so they don't.

Only now that the rot has spread to small town America have white conservatives taken notice of it.

Yeah, I don't know what could reasonably and legally be done to fix it. The infrastructure is garbage, taxes are high, the crime is seemingly random, it's polluted, and there's no compelling reason for people to move here. If I could do my job anywhere else, I would definitely look into it.

Saint Louis is a stand-alone city with around 300,000 residents. It's surrounded by St. Louis County which has just over one million residents. St. Louis County (aka The County) is a confederation of small cities with no direct ties to St. Louis City. People who work in the city pay a 1% income tax to the city, which I'm assuming is where they get most of their money. Other than a few gentrified "hip" (but still dangerous) areas, virtually everyone who could be defined as lower-middle class and higher lives outside of the city. Saint Louis is filled with burned out buildings, abandoned factories and warehouses, and neighborhoods where people just stand in the middle of the road and will stop your car if they get the whim. I've blown through red lights because several people have started walking up to my car.

Like I said, I don't know what the solution is. I don't know many non-locals who like the place, it's just where our jobs are. I think it would take a huge investment by the Federal government to come in and rebuild the core, combined with the merging of the city and St. Louis County, which would never be approved by voters. It does, at least, have some nice universities and a decent location if you need to do business all around the country.

So St. Louis turned to shit right before Democrats took over in the fifties? Your mind is very poisoned and has been for so long that you think that what you spout actually contains logic.

If a Republican run federal government intervened in St. Louis you'd be screaming to the rafters about Fascist's and/or Nazi's. When that went nowhere you'd be lamenting about how they're not doing it right. The left will never admit failure. It's always the fault of evil outside forces and primarily the fault of the vast right-wing conspiracy. Democrats, the 'champion of the downtrodden', would put themselves out of business if they solved any of these problems. As a cover, they blame their political opponents for their failures that are built in by design. When your very existence is dependent on the problems associated with life in a Democrat controlled city, it's in your best interests to not just continue the practices but to augment them and supplement them.

The next election will be the one that makes the difference! Decade after decade of that horse shit, believed by people educated by Democrats who vote for Democrats leads to, 'it's a problem too big for the locals to deal with'. It's successful leftist strategy. Play identity politics, divide, compartmentalize, make promises you have no intention of keeping and blame everyone else when the victims start complaining. You live in a hell-hole because of evil Republicans. Congratulations, you've convinced a huge segment of society. The hundred year plan has taken longer and has gotten a huge setback with Trump in the white house but the promises of a communist progressive utopia can still be achieved. Equal misery for all. St. Louis for all! Those that won't comply will simply disappear. This time it will work.

You guys do remember Trump and others blaming Obama for Chicago’s murder rate, right?
