SST (W2K/XP) drivers and software for Saitek controllers finally released...AND THEY SEEM TO STINK!

Dunno how many folks like me have been waiting for Saitek to release their SST software and drivers that would fully support W2K/XP on some of their controllers, but the first release is finally out!

NO idea about stability, so consider yourself warned if installing these causes your system to crash-and-burn.

<< could you compare these to the Dhauzimmer unofficial drivers? >>

never installed the Dhauzimmers, but I can sum up my experience with these "new" drivers in a single sentence:

SAITEK'S LACKADAISICAL DRIVERS LEAVE ALL THE BUTTONS ON MY X36 DISABLED, AND THEIR UTILITIES CLAIM I DON'T HAVE A PROGRAMMABLE STICK CONNECTED!

Hah, sorry to hear that. I haven't even installed my new X45 (been a few months now) but I'll probably try Dhauzimmers first when I get around to it.

Many threads on Saitek's Official Forum about the new drivers, and strange problems people are seeing with them (mainly with the HOTAS setups, of course).

One person managed to work out a MANUAL install process that seems to be offering great results for most people. The process is documented in this thread.

As always, YMMV so be sure and have a good backup.
