Technically, it's a price protection policy, and it's Radio Shack corporate policy. If any manager gives anyone any flack, I would suggest calling RS corporate. That manager obviously needs an AT schooling ;)

Snagged one for $550 and will do a price adjustment tomorrow. Sales manager took my phone number and said he will call me if there are any special deals in the future. You think he knows something I don't ?

Got one for $585. In the metropolitan area I live there was none except for the display models, however the guy I talked to knew stuff, and got it from another RS in a small town in MN. It will be shipped to their store and I will pick it up.
One year no interest with their card.
They do price adjustment. In the worst case you can return and buy at the new price.
Good deal, good deal.

This was the strangest AT deal I ever did. I called several stores and finally found one that said they had a new-in-box 3635 and would hold it until I got there. I get to the store and a salesman comes over to me before I can even say anything and wants to know if I am the guy who called about the Ipaq. I said yes and he said they thought I was a crank call because the local RS stores do that to each other. So I'm thinking they are trying to get out of selling one to me. He goes on to say that a salesperson opened it up to check it and dropped it; now it was too scratched up to sell; second nail in the coffin. Then he says the manager went to another store to get one and would be back soon. Sure enough, he shows up with one in about 20 minutes. But what's with the crank call story? If they thought it was a crank call, why would the manager go get another one? Like I said: strange.

I hope it really is $200 less tomorrow.

Called my 3 local RS in this podunk town of Wichita Falls TX.
Of course none had it in stock, and none knew of this supposed sale for the 3635 to go down to $349.

They did tell me that if I came in I could order one from them to ship to the store in 2 days. I seriously doubt it would come in that fast, and I bet all of the ones at the distribution center will be spoken for by 8 am tomorrow.

One Question - will this thing easily upgrade to the newest PocketPC 2002 OS stuff? I read about certain models don't have the right flash rom or enough space to upgrade, so you might be better off waiting for the newer models to ensure this thing is more future-proof, capability wise. I haven't researched enough to drop $200 on this, even if its a INFERNO HOT SUPER BURNING DEAL. I already have a slim Palm Vx that I like the size of, but want to put a GPS into a color IPAQ for driving and flying ops.

Any background linkage or info on these IPAQ models would be nice.

Hope these get available and the sale is for real for everybody on AT's sake.

Does anyone know where to get the upgrade to PocketPC 2002 OS? I looked on Compaq's site, and on pocketpc.com but couldn't find it.

Stealing them from MN? Now that's not fair.

The way you worded it, it didn't sound like you were. Sorry. I was kidding anyway.

BTW, what town did you get it from?

Yes. I just scored 12 of the 3635 for $349 apiece. The manager was kind enough to give me a $346 discount on the order - no tax :) [Edit: Ah sh!t. Why didn't I PM this to Staples?]

I was also told the 3135 is out of stock at Radio Shack nationwide.

You bought 12 of them? I hope you score 12 rebates. It's a slim chance, but good luck.

I'll check my local Shack today.

Justincase, I hope it was a typo that you bought 12 of the 3635's! Leave some for us!!! Sheesh! :)

Anyways, I got in on this as well and can confirm that the price is $349. The RS I called was OOS, but ordered it to be shipped from the warehouse in Texas to my door with no extra shipping charges. ($374.50 with tax). If anybody has trouble getting them, PM me and I'll give the phone # for the store that took care of me. Great service!

100% chance, unless Compaq goes out of business. I have never been rejected on any rebate.

I just got off the phone with my local store; the price has dropped nationwide to $349.95. Manager said "come on in and we'll fix you up with a price adjustment".

Suh-weet.

Got one today too! yeah!, but the 3135 rumor for $124.99 does not appear to be true. Rang up at the register as $249.99 and the manager said that they would not be having a sale on those anytime soon.

Hum I wonder who is telling the truth? I trust you guys more... will try around for some more of thse.

Let me clarify justincase. Isn't the rebate limited to one person/household/receipt?

What I was saying was that retaining 12 rebates is going to be a lot of work.

My manager said $124.99 when I gave her the catalog number. However, the item seems to be scarce-to-non-existant.

Nuh-uh. :Q

Yeah, well, I have $2,100.00 out there in rebates now, so what's another $1,800.00? :) The Compaq form is pretty easy...did one a couple weeks ago.

Any store can order it , but don't count on getting that iPAQ you ordered. I ordered two on Monday in-store and was told they would be delivered within 5 days. RS left a voicemail for me yesterday telling me that none of thee were in stock in any of the warehouses and that existing store stock was all that was available. Good Luck

BTW - The iPAQ Rebate is one per product with no limit per person/address. We purchased 20 of the 3135s from Staples back in August and filed the online rebate form and received all of them within 8 weeks.

Considering the website isn't up to date is there any printed proof other than relying on RS staff to rescan the Ipaq. Ie they can say it hasn't changed and not rescan it, or they might not have the latest prices...

i ve mine on hold...the manager i spoke to was real nice ..a big change from the schmucks i am used to talking at staples. i mentioned the 349 price ..he told me it even had a 150 $ mail in rebate bringing the price to 200. i am sure most employees would have tried to take it for themselves. he also told me that half the state had been calling for it. i offered to give my cc info on the phone just be safe. he said dont worry we ve kept it for so long we can keep for another 2 hrs. i ve been at work for the last 24 hrs ...i cant wait to finish :)
thanks again jbtech
