hi gyus,
my friend is looking into getting a SFF pc because he is going to be toting around to all our apartments next year so we can play games like we did all last year in the dorms.

The PC will be used 50% for gaming, and the other 50% for his programming and surfing the net.

Now I don't know too much about SFF but I want to consider options from Intel, as well as AMD, because even though the Athlon64 preforms better at games, he has a mentality that AMD is an inferior processor (trust me I've tried talking to him, but to him it boils down that if anything wrong happens to his processor, Intel is large enough to take a hit and fix it whereas AMD will crash. And because intel is so large, it has an important investment to ensure that its processors run perfect because they don't want to taint their name...and it goes on)

Anyways, I'm looking at some A64 SSF and here I what I see, but I'm really not sure asto the quality and I'm wondering if anyone can clue me in

One more thing: He will NOT be overclocking, and "future" upgrades will probably never occur. He will also try to reuse his 768 megs of pc2100 ram (yes, I know...and imagine a P4 with this where bandwith is even more crucial *shudders*), CDROM, his tv tuner card, and possibly hard drives (Though i reccomended he get a new one becaues both of his are old 5400rpm maxtors)

Shuttle XPC Barebone System for Socket 754 AMD Athlon 64 CPU, Model SK83G
This one costs 299 and uses the Nfgb250

this one is at a very nice 219 ,but uses the nf150 chipset

another nf250 at 279, but seems to come with a little less features

another nf250 at 299, but seems to come with a 250watt psu (Which my guess might be ncessary later because i'm not sure if he is going to reuse his mx420)

Is there a reason to go nf3250gb over the 150s? I know the main issue at hand is PCI Lock, but my friend will never over clock...furthermore the 150s all seem to have an integrated gigabit lan. The 250s have raid, but i'm not sure if that is something my friend will use, especially considering that most SFF are probably a tight fit~ two HDDs would probably be pushing the limit

As for intel...there are a 1000x more SSF so I'm absolutely clueless as where to look at.

So can anyone help me out? That Biostar looks extremely tempting at its price (especialy since in those user reviews a guy has a 3400+ and a 9600XT tossed in there), and I have no idea about Intel when it comes to SFF.

Thanks

edit

I just realized there is a SFF forum- if a mod thinks it needs to be moved there, go ahead

I'd say go with the Soltek if you want the latest and greatest chipset. Shuttle does have a socket 939 solution on the horizon, IF you want to wait for that.

Here's a little info Text You'll need a translator.
