Call it indulgence or greedy;
I've some fast 1-1.5TB HDD just lying around and thinking if I could RAID0 them and have an old OCZ Vertex SSD to accelerate them.
My new Corsair FGT SSD is fastest in the system, so that'll remain as boot drive.

Anyone think it's worth the trouble?

YES! Do it!

It's ridiculously easy, and your user experience will be immensely better. And the best part is, if the vertex fails you won't lose any data.

Did it just now, but with just 2x1.5TB drives.
Don't want to redo the wire mgnt inside the case, just yet.

Hmm... It's cool, but I don't really notice anything different.
Perhaps it'd make more sense if the RST-ed RAID were the boot disk.

I noticed the humming noise generated by the HDD, were they always this loud? :(

I should stop now, this is beginning to head toward un-productivity..
I even installed 3DMark briefly last night, but I regained my composure and uninstalled it right away.

yes.. it(caching) will improve performance for redundantly accessed data. Then again.. that's what Windows accelleration is already doing with much of your ram as it is anyways.

yes.. using it for an OS volume would be better since that volume would have far more redundantly accessed data than a storage volume would. But again with the "Windows accelleration" typically being used for much data anyways.

I use caching software on several of my volumes, including raided SSD, and it can make a difference if leveraged correctly. Usage patterns(reundantly accessed data) will have the largest impact on perceptible gains though.
