Yeah, maybe. Honestly there is no good reason I couldn't get by with a 256 GB drive, but I like the ability to not worry about drive space - my laptop is my primary computer so I like the idea of having 512 GB so I don't have to think about storage space. Honestly I have never had a laptop last much more than 2 years but my MBP is still in amazing condition after nearly 3, and I just put a new battery in it, so it might well make sense to throw in an SSD. If the rest of the computer dies after I am out of AppleCare I can always swap it into a new machine.
