SSD with RAID or AHCI mode

I have an ASUS P5Q3 MB and a Samsung 840 Pro SSD (256 GB) running under XP/W7 (dual boot).

I'm now polishing up the XP environment. Everything runs fine when in RAID mode, without RAID actually being active. BSOD when I switch to AHCI.

Exactly the same thing occurred with classical SATA disks before installing the SSD. The boot worked fine only in RAID mode.

There may be a link of some kind with the RAID 1 feature which I used under ASUS for several years before deactivating it a while ago.

When I boot, the SSD and disk are displayed as NON-RAID DISKS.

Any suggestions, if you please?

Just stay in raid mode , the AHCI is a part of raid with NCQ and hot swap support. Also got a dual boot w7/xp and everything runs great , i think for xp there are no new RST divers made , but the latest version RST for xp works great .

But, when I run Samsung's Magician, it's telling me I don't have an optimized setup because I'm not running in AHCI mode.
