SSD upgrade for Dell Latitude D420 - part check

What do you all think about that device? It will be replacing a 30GB 4200RPM HDD. The laptop has a Core Duo U2400 chip and 2GB of RAM, I intend to run Windows 7 Home Edition on it when the hard drive is upgraded.

Shold wok as long as that model has sata ports.

Kinda pricey for no faster than it is but your options are limited with that interface.

I'm not sure if I would bother upgrading a D420 at this point. It's five year old laptop at this point, and is more than ready for replacement.

I actually just got the D420. I am not a computer power user at home, I save all that for work. The D420 has all the CPU power I require, I just need more room to install Win7. I have Win7 on my Acer netbook with an N270 chip and it was ok with me - the D420 is much better.

I agree on the priciness hence me asking BEFORE I buy one. In the past I'd just jump.

Samsung Spinpoint HS08XJC 1.8" ZIF PATA 5400RPM 8MB Cache

Would that be more suitable? It's a big improvement over the existing drive which is 30GB 4200RPM no idea on the cache size. I just want to use this machine for a year or so and then I'll upgrade the entire thing to whatever supersedes Haswell.
