I read the read here first page, but it hasn't been updated in two years.

I am new to the SSD market, and was looking for some advice.

This is my crappy board,

I tried to find better specs, but I couldn't. If I had to guess I would say Sata 2, but I am not sure.
930 CPU
7950 Boost GPU

I think PCI-E SSD would be questionable, which would likely limit me to SATA. It's backwards compatible, so I don't see any reason to go with an older version, which means SATA3 is the obvious choice. Next year I plan on building a new system, and will hopefully transfer this thing over, so I want to make sure it's sort of future proof. Though I think anything above 3GB/s isn't needed for gaming anyways.

I will primarily use it for OS and gaming, maybe some autodesk work, and my budget is about $100

For the price, simply you can't beat it. Sandisk is also considerable option.

Tip, just don't busy your mind with SATA2 Vs. SATA3 performance subject - speaking from a normal daily usage POV.

Yah, I read from another article, maybe it was here, that 3GB/s is more than enough for daily use. That is the primary reason I stuck with Sata 3, rather than going PCI-e. Well that, and I read some boards don't support PCI-E, and I don't want to take any chances.

It kind of makes me wonder the point of the PCI-E SSD's. They are insanely fast, but for the average joe they seem like total overkill.
