SSD Secure Erase/format question

ive had my OCZ Vertex 2 for around 3 weeks but i got a new motherboard so i am about to reinstall windows 7

i was orginally going to use HDD Erase 3.3 to wipe the drive but ive heard that might not be nescessay as quick formatting the drive from windows 7 will do the same thing

is this correct or should i still use HDD Erase anyway?

thanks

Only do secure erase if you plan on selling the drive.

Just install Win7. If you're unsure that your partition(s) is/are already aligned, delete and recreate them during Win7's install at the 'choose disk' screen. Have fun.

Because? Only then is performance of the SSD important? I don't think so.

@OP:
I also don't think a quick format TRIMs the entire surface; though it's possible. FreeBSD does that. You better use Ultimate Boot CD which got HDDErase included to perform secure erase regularly. Also, do NOT do a long format; that would zero write all space and its not what you want.
