http://www.ebay.com/itm/Indilinx-SSD-OCZ-Martini-SLC-repair-PCB-64g-128g-256g replacement hi-rel pcb

i happen to buy laing ddc control board/sanyo/toshiba controller chips from this hk seller (for my own use) & am satisfied w/ parts quality + service

& yes i've encountered various "hk sidewalk enterprises" doing handheld hotair smt component change-out/upgrade while wearing double lense magnifying goggles "while customer waits" exactly as portrayed in "blade runner" (gm being core activity rather than microelectronics in hk)

pls carefully read product description...

will update link later

Blain, thank you

to "others" I am writing, proactively, of possible help for users of earlier Indilinx based ssd's - pls read on to learn no criticism is involved...

functional link - http://www.ebay.com/sch/diyinhk/m.html and scroll down to item no. 8, click on this item for detail explanation...

ie: the indilinx controller chip & all other "chips" reused - I have actually witnessed this & about 50% of the failed ssd's are recovered...

ALL "chips" from failed ssd MUST be installed in EXACTLY SAME Location on new v.2.1 pcb --- it is not possible to upgrade the no's of nand chips because controller addressing will be lost --- same/same only

As hardcore as many users here are into tech, I don't think very many people are going to be replacing their PCB and/or memory chips on their SSD drives. If a drive has a problem, you get an RMA. That's why companies like OCZ have a lifetime warranty - because there are problems with certain batches of these drives.

the breakfast was successful & focused on tech production interests

western nations express "equally we cooperate to achieve political & economic understanding" --- beijing replys "being first among equals, we have our own perspective; one of which is to encourage cooperation & dialogue between nations" --- entirely different perspectives & "first among equals" is exactly what is meant...

back to this thread - yes in n.america rma is still magic & few attempt repairs; however over 1/2 global tech users have at best (1)yr return for service period or if parallel import (& many items are to break local agent monopoly) no repair service offered / no returns accepted

so independent repairs are far more commonplace & can be effective

individuals will attempt diy repair of bga lsi components quite casually w/ about 50% success rate... sharp eye sight being hi priority

fyi the liberal rma policies in n.america + eu are incorporated in retail pricing structure, driving up retail prices --- same retail prices will be maintained "elsewhere" unless parallel import independents offer the product without rma - niche opens for independent repair services (perhaps also offering upgrading)

Hy, e-drood.
That's my case. I live in Brazil, and the cost to send and wait my Octane to USA won't compensate.
So, I'm tending to try the repair by myself...
Could you help me (and many others) with a detailed diy tutorial for an OCZ Octane 512 in a bricked state (now it's a BSD, eh, eh) 🙂

Very much thanks

That is kinda true, here in US we have great rma process in place.. other parts of the world, once you walk out of the store, you are SOL and on your own. you can wait months for repair or replacement

thank god for amazon, newegg and misc online retailers here
