I'm looking at the SSD optimization for vista on ocz: http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showthread.php?47212-Vista-32-64-SSD-Windows-Registry-tweaks

I see that they recommend disabling superfetch in both registry and service. What's the difference between the two?

I have the Kingston SNV425-S2 64GB, so I don't even know if any of these things matter. I read from pcper that this model actually has its own garbage collection so that trim isn't needed. But as for the superfetch and prefetch settings, any thoughts? Are they now a moot point with this newer generation of jmicron controllers? Thanks.

Don't do 90% of what's mentioned on the OCZ forums. There's alot of old threads dealing with older SSDs. Your Kingston SSD is one of the newest ones and is mature. You will also want to utilize your RAM better, which is what superfetch does. So don't disable it.

The only thing I would do is uncheck your SSD for scheduled disk defragment. You don't need to disable disk defragment, but you can if you don't have any spinning disks. 2nd thing is check your alignment. You can do this by running AS SSD Benchmark. When you run it should say 'OK' in green just below the drive size.

I have a question for you coolVariable

When I installed my new SSD, Win7 installed on the first go, but something happened to my DVD drive so it wouldn't finish the installation process after the reboot. So I had to do the Win7 installation process over. I deleted the partition on the SSD with the Win7 installer and made a new one, and everything installed fine after that.

Will having done that affect my SSD performance?
