Ok... first things first here's my setup:
Asus P5Q Deluxe Motherboard
Intel P4 QX9650 o/c to 3.62GHz
4GB (4x1GB) PC3200 Patriot DDR2
XFX Nvidia 1024MB GTX280 XXX Version
Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty Sound Card
2 x OCXSSD2-1S64G Hard Drives in Raid 0 on the onboard ICH10R Controller
(setup with 128k stripe and 128k offset on the partition and formatted with 4096 file allocation size)
Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB SATA drive
Corsair TX 650W PSU
Dell 3007 30" Monitor
Vista Home Premium x64
I am pretty sure I have set up the Raid properly and am noticing it behaving blisteringly fast on boot etc.
I have turned on the relevant write caching options in Disk Management, turned off Superfetch etc and indexing for this drive.
However when I run either HD Tach or CrystalDiskMark I am getting bizzare results. They are either reporting low results (170MB/s sequential read) or stupid high (960MB/s) whereas I am expecting it to be 280-300MB/s.
Anyone know why this is? Is it Vista? Is it the benchmarking tool? (a friend has a *very* similar setup but with ICH9R and XP and he is getting normal results). Is it things not being able to cope with this combination of SSD/Vista/64bit??
I'm not unhappy with how it performs at all just irritated that the benchmarks are haphazard.
Any ideas welcome!
Cheers,
