Long time lurker here lol, these forums are extremely informative!
Question is I'm using a Sabertooth x58 mobo and I was wondering if I choose to go with the OCZ Vertex 3 SSD if it will utilize the 6.0 gb/s sata or if it will be a waste not being the latest greatest mobo.
Also I was wondering outside of the OCZ Vertex 3 Max IOPS SSD if there are any SSD's faster for gaming in particular.
Any info is greatly appreciated, Thanks!

I would suggest you look at the SSD review sticky at the top of this forum to make a more informative decision.

Regarding your SATA6 connections on your mobo - they are the Marvell-controller based ones and are woefully poor in terms of performance. You would get better IOPs from your intel based SATA ports running at SATA3 speeds. You could always get an add-in SATA6 card and that would increase your performance.
 
For gaming, any SSD, especially a SATA3 one, will feel the same in speed. Reliability, however, is a different matter.
