no, if you did not install windows with AHCI enabled it will not have the capability to boot from AHCI, if you installed/reinstalled windows with AHCI on, then you can freely switch between AHCI and legacy mode.

Oh, I see. I'm getting pretty flummoxed as to which Windows "tweaks" are actually beneficial to SSD users. And do I put a fixed page file on the ssd or on a mechanical drive? I've been reading all morning and am still not able to draw a conclusion.

well... ASK and ye shall receive.

The page file doesn't care about SSD vs spindle, the pagefile needs the fastest 4K random writes... they are, in this order:
Intel SSD > Indilinx SSD (vertex, falcon, ultradrive ME) > Velociraptor > regular spindle drive > laptop spindle drive > > > > Jmicron drive.
the samsung SSD drives vary and can be cl;ose to the inlinx or below a regular spindle drive.
So if you have, for example, an intel SSD, put the pagefile on it

Hmm, well, I was fairly certain that my Supertalent would be faster for using a page file on, but how large should I set the page file? I have 8gb of ram. Also, do I need to disable superfetch? I keep seeing people recommending this, but it makes me a little leary.
