Hey all,

First, thanks a lot for taking the time to read this!

I've been reading through huge amount of SSD info here trying to make a decision. I've saved enough to finally get as SSD. I feel like i now have enough info to make a decent purchase, but i value the opinions of the posters here, after being a lurker for years:p

I'm actually looking to purchase one used to save some cash. Other than Ebay, anywhere else that's good for finding used SSD's that's trustworthy?

Also, after receiving said SSD,any programs you recommend that i could verify the drive is in decent condition? I know regular old drives have S.M.A.R.T, but do SSD's have something similar to that functionality? I know the obvious would be to run some read/write tests to see if they look normal, but am curious whats beyond that.

And finally, what drives do you personally find to be be good drives for the cash.

Anyway, i really appreciate it

~Ryan~

I wouldn't buy a used SSD. If I was cash poor and I wanted an SSD, I'd just watch slickdeals (make a deal alert for "SSD" to email you) and the Hot Deals forum here on AT.

Right now, you can get a good 64GB SSD for around $100 after rebates. That's pretty cheap. I doubt you could do much better on a used one, and you'd have to worry about the used one more than the new one!

There's no way in hell I'd even consider buying a used SSD. Some things you can't scrimp on. Just save up a bit more and keep an keen eye for deals.

To me, it would depend entirely on how much I could save over new. Used doesn't = bad inherently.
