How difficult would it be for me to modify the BIOS?

Are there people on this forum who could help me out with the modification or at least have a look and say if it's possible or not?

The difference really isn't that noticeable. Maybe if you are doing video editing, but then you wouldn't have bought a netbook with a Celeron for that.

The sequential read & write speeds and 4k read & write speeds are about 60% of what I would get with SATA 3. I bought the netbook just to do general stuff like web browsing, Office and watching videos, so I wouldn't notice a difference?

More than the slower speed I think I just wanted to solve the problem.

You will not notice any difference under this use case scenario between sata2 and sata3. But one thing is for sure, you will definitely notice the difference between this ssd and its mechanical counterpart.
Maybe when moving extremely large files, but as other forum members have stated, you are bottle necked by the platform itself when doing serious computing on that notebook. The ssd's sequential max speed is your last concern.
The only thing that you have to do is to make sure that AHCI is enabled so that is OS can pass trim commands to the ssd. After that you're good to go. Enjoy your purchase/updrade!

Samsung's Magician software confirms that AHCI is on.

Thanks for your help everyone.
