I did a major upgrade to my system a couple of months ago, Intel I7, Asus X58 MB, 6 GB, WD 300GB data drive, and an OCZ Agility 2 128MB SSD OS drive. Everything has been great until yesterday. I was attempting to go into Win 7 control panel when the machine just froze. I waited a bit but it seemed to get worse and finally just shut down windows with a message about the drive or something (I don't remember exactly). I pushed the reset and when it came up the SSD drive was not detected by the BIOS. I powered down and it booted up fine when I started it again. Today I tried running control panel again with the same crash occurring, I think I did it twice. It only does it when I try accessing the main properties page it seems. Because of these symptoms I am wondering it the code for that app is corrupted in the SSD and locking up the SSD. As long as I don't go near that mini-app the machine runs fine. Does anyone have any such experience and what might be the cause and is there any other solution other than RMAing the SSD? Would a repair install of Win 7 possibly fix it and even if it did is the long term reliability of the SSD in question? All help is greatly appreciated.
