Hi,

I have a Asus p8z68 Deluxe mb.

I have 2 m4 64 ssd's and one 1tb HD

I would like to install the os on one SSD and use the second SSD to cache the 1tb HD

Is there a step by step manual somewhere that explains how to do this?

I have never configured anything using RAID

Thanks.

1. Install OS on ssd 1 using raid mode
2. Install IRST drivers
3. Click "accelerate" tab
4.
5. Profit!

Thanks for the reply

The tech guy at asus tells me the technology involving IRST only works when the OS is installed on the mechanical drive.

I assume he knows what he's talking about??

I was hoping to install the SSD with OS on the marvell controller (navy blue), and then configure the second SSD and the mechanical drive on the intel controllers (gray), and then accelerate. I was told the technology will not support that configuration.

Is he correct about this?

Thanks

Put both ssd's on the intel 6 gb/s controllers, otherwise they will be throttled by the connection. It is possible that SRT won't work otherwise, but it's a simple matter to plug the ssd's into the faster ports. And don't worry, your hdd will do just fine in one of the non-intel ports.

SRT works fine on non-OS mechanical drives. my wife's computer has a boot SSD and a mechanical 2TB + 64GB SSD as cache.

Do i need to configure the HDD and 64gb SDD in RAID 0?

Before you install Win7, you set the Intel SATA controller to RAID mode.
After you Install the OS, you install the Intel RST drivers.
Then attach your cache drive to the other Intel SATA 3 port, and your HDD to a SATA 2 port.

Run the RST console, and there will be an ' Accelerate ' tab, where you can set up the SSD caching ..

Here are some screen shots here.

Does SRT work with the HDD on a non Intel port ?

If so, thanks for the info...

There's no need to put your HDD on a non Intel port. SATA II doesn't get saturated by even the fastest hdd, anyway. Here's how to prioritize your ports on current intel offerings:

2 sata 6gb/s ports: put any sata 6gb/s ssd's on these
??? sata II ports: everything else
??? non Intel sata 6gb/s ports: only use if every other port is used up
