SSD as Photoshop Scratch Disk?

Does anyone have any specific hands on experience using a SSD disk as a Photoshop scratch disk?

I'm sure the SLC are great and the Intel MLC would be great, too. However, it seems to me that even the poorly performing MLC disks with the JMicron controller (JMF602) might work well as just a scratch disk.
Is that correct?
Or, would the stutters in those scratch disks freeze the OS that is on a separate HD?

To be clear, I would *not* use the MLC disks (with JMicron controller) as the primary/OS disk, just as the scratch disk.

I'd go with more memory instead of putting it to scratch disk. You can probably change your mobo and memory for less than suitable SSD?

YUP, you can get ALOT of ram for the price of an SSD.

The write performance on some SSDs isn't stellar. If you're feeling limited, I'll third that suggestion to just add regular RAM for a better boost that costs less.

Thanx all - I will just add more RAM (if needed). I'm building the new set up, and the question was more of a theoretical question - that is, if I found myself in that position.

Again, thanx for the responses.

The Jmicron-based MLC drives have horribly shitty random write performance. I think they would suck as a scratch disk.

As aka1nas said... actually the ONLY SSD worth getting FOR A PC is the intel one at the moment. Any other SSD and you are better off using the velociraptor. (and ram is a better and cheaper upgrade anyways).
The lesser SSDs are good when compared to laptop platter drives, but fall short of desktop drive quality.
