SSD and Raid

hi,

does anyone know if trim will be supported by the intel x25-m when i'm running it as a non raid member on a raid controller (i have 3 WD 640gb , 2 are in raid 0, and 1 is non raid member boot drive)?

in my mobo bios (p5q pro) i have to set my config as raid, and i'm not sure if trim on the x25 will work through my onboard raid controller.

thanks

I am not 100% sure, but I would think it would work, just connecting it to a raid controller should not be an issue, having it as part of an array would be.

The SSD on the ICH10 will not work, if you are using Windows 7 at least.

Might read this.

As it reads seems like is a driver problem yet. So in the future probably that will be fixed.
Now if you are using Vista, I do not know if Vista supports TRIM.

Hope this can help you out a little bit.

waaaait. Intel's SSD don't work on ICH10, or the TRIM doesn't work on the Intel MSM array? The former is a much different statement compared to the later.

i'm sure that the x25 will work with my comp, but what i'm asking is "will TRIM be supported if i'm running the SSD as a non raid member on a raid controller (ICH10) which have other discs that are in raid 0."

and i'm running win 7 RC, which i believe does already support trim.

thank you

EDIT: just read the anandtech link Rafael. so if i'm interpretting the article correctly, the answer to my question is "no" right?

The RAID/SATA controller's driver has to support TRIM to pass along the commands to the SSD. It just means that the Win7 drivers for ICH10 don't yet, nothing to get too excited about.

Sorry guys, I wrote wrong. I thought something and wrote another.

SSD will work on ICH10, just TRIM will not work on W7 with the MSM drivers loaded.

My bad!

Just for curiosity, anyone know if Vista supports TRIM?
