SSD advice

Hey guys,

I just bought most of the parts for a new build, and I was debating throwing in a SSD into there as well. I was browsing Newegg, and I ran into this interesting bit:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820139004

Basically, it looks like the exact same drive, but one has a "notebook" package, and the other has a "desktop" package. But the notebook is $30 cheaper, at around $110 for 64 gb, which makes it a really good deal for any / all of us who failed to grab the $85 40gb drive.

So, what are the thoughts on this? Will the "notebook accessory" junk be pretty irrelevant, or will it be a deal breaker?

Thanks guys!

I've been compiling drives/ controllers for reference (http://www.servethehome.com/?p=168). Those drives are Toshiba controllers, but are rebranded Jmicron JMF602's. Allegedly they have firmware to stop stuttering, however, may want to be safe and go with Intel/Indilinx/Samsung to be safe.

I think the difference between the 2 is just that the "desktop" version is bundled with a 2.5" to 3.5" mounting bracket, which you can get for far less than that price difference.

Ah, so the super-deal SSDnow that everyone was ranting about was an Intel controller, right?

That'd explain the discrepancy :-D Thanks a lot!
