Seriously, this is going to be the game of the year folks.

Croteam gave Rock, Paper, Shotgun an exclusive 3 level demo recently. Article up today about their playthrough. The article includes new pics.

Croteam has also announced that 4 player split screen is back and system requirements were outlined:

Minimum System Requirements

  • CPU: Dual-core from Intel or AMD at 2.0 GHz
  • Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7800/7900/8600 series
  • OS: Windows XP 32-bit (with service pack 2 or 3)
  • Memory: 1GB / 4GB free hard drive space
  • Sound Card: DirectX9.0c Compatible Sound Card
Recommended System Requirements

  • CPU: Quad-core from Intel or AMD at 2.0 GHz
  • Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 480/580 GTX
  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • Memory: 4GB / 4GB free hard drive space
  • Sound Card: DirectX9.0c Compatible Sound Card

Apparently the Beta testing has opened up with select few getting to test through Steam. Man, I cannot wait for this game.

Update 8/12/11:

New gameplay video. Not sure what difficulty level he's playing, but based on the number of monsters, I'm guessing Normal. Also, didn't see any buildings being destroyed.

Update 8/15/11:

Another new gameplay video. You will need to let page load then click on "more info on this video" right below the video. This serious difficulty, but looks to be at the beginning of the game. Get's the SS feeling right about the 6 minute mark.

Update 8/23/11:

Serious Sam 3 Release Date: October 18th
Price: $39.99, 10% off Pre-order, 20% off Pre-order if you have SSHD (exclusive to Steam orders I believe)

New Video. Keep an eye out for one of the new weapons towards the end of the video. Freaking Awesome!

God I love Serious Sam. Also, Fork Parker is by far my favorite publisher CFO ever, if it's even possible to have a favorite CFO. The press releases that come from him are amazing.

(In regards to four-player splitscreen) Publisher Devolver’s Fork Parker goes on to explain what else this feature offers players, in his own distinctive style:

• Visual identification of opponents allows for more accurate racial and gender slurs during Deathmatch and Capture the Flag games.

• Close proximity allows for unwanted sexual advances towards opponents without fear of reprisal due to their fear of losing the lead in Team Deathmatch.

• Leon’s mom usually walks around the house in these ridiculously short shorts that show the very edge of her butt. Seriously dude, you should see these things.

Parker goes on to point out that this feature means fewer copies will need to be sold.

“These Serious Sam nerds need to get a job and pay for their own copy of Serious Sam 3: BFE. We’re losing a ton of cash on this little split screen feature. By the way, do they make split screen adult films? Watching four at once would save me a lot of time in the shower. Fuck, don’t print that.”

And let's not forget the press release about their canceled DD service:

There's only like 10 enemies in that screenshot though. :D I'm expecting there to be dozens. Remember the "kleer stampede" from that one level of Serious Sam: The First Encounter? That was ridiculous, there must've been something like 200 enemies charging at you.

True, but you know there are enemies to the side and behind that we can't see. The new arachnid monsters scare me :'(

When I last replayed the game at Serious difficulty the body count at the end of that level was almost 1600.

Man i loved serious sam, that bowling ball you could shoot at enemies was so awesome.

I think that game actually cost me more money than i paid for it because i missed work because of cramped fingers holding down mouse button. lol

Okay, according to a Croteam developer, some of the sounds are being tweaked and the level shown in the video will not allow a player to back out into the desert as far as the previewer was able to. They did that for the previewer only. Not sure how they are going to change the design, but they better not put up any invisible walls! Also, the previewer was only playing on Tourist, which is the easiest level on SS.

I was just playing Serious Sam TSE earlier today. I had forgotten how hard it was; even on Easy mode I had to turn on cheats to clear the "Very Long Run". Werebulls with cannons were too much for me.

That part of the game is just pure awesome. Seems like the only way to really beat those Werebull onslaughts is to hang back a bit and allow them to fall into a single file, then paste as many as possible with a single cannon shot.

One thing that's interesting about SS's AI is how at times it's less focused on quick reaction than it is on maintaining steady control and how the opponents will just overwhem you from all directions if you don't.
